How we work

Judgment over volume

Conclusion first
Every opinion separates facts, legal analysis and recommendation. The conclusion comes first; the technical reasoning follows.
Prevention
Most of the disputes we handle could have been avoided by a better drafted contract or a properly conducted disciplinary process.
Cross-border reach
Incorporation abroad, cross-border contracting, and OECD, RSPO and AEO standards.
Restraint
We do not promise outcomes. We set out scenarios, probabilities and costs, and the decision stays with the client.

Common questions

About the firm

What kind of clients does Acevedo & Acevedo Abogados act for?
The firm acts primarily for companies: entities operating in Colombia, foreign companies entering the Colombian market, and Colombian companies opening operations abroad. Recurring sectors are agribusiness, retail, manufacturing, foreign trade and technology.
Does the firm work with foreign clients and in English?
Yes. The firm advises foreign investors entering Colombia and works in English on cross-border matters. Members of the team have trained and practised in Spain and the United States, and correspondence and deliverables can be produced in English.
Where is the office and how do I arrange a meeting?
The office is at Calle 100 # 8A-37, Oficina 701, Torre A, Edificio World Trade Center, in Bogotá. Meetings can be arranged by writing to [email protected], via WhatsApp, or through the contact form on this site. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Colombia time (UTC-5).
How are fees charged?
It depends on the matter. Ongoing counsel is structured as a monthly retainer, discrete filings as a fixed fee, and litigation combines an initial fee with a success component. The arrangement is agreed and put in writing before any work begins.
